Direct Positives
Bayard et. al.
Hired by the National Museum of Scotland to assist with identifying an early print by Froment suspected to be a Direct Positive. I conducted several months of independent research, which I later presented to archivist Ionnis .. and demonstrated the process. After which, we made a series of tonal test strips with different formulas and sizings with identical positive transparency and exposure times. These strips were analyzed with an electron microscope to compare against the original print. Test analysis confirmed the print was a direct positive. This research was conducted in collaboration with the Rijksmuseum and the Ghetty.
