Salting the Earth

This work was made for publication in Salted Paper Printing: A Step-by-Step Manual Highlighting Contemporary Artists By Christina Z. Anderson, 2017 Routledge. The project is a response to military occupation in the Middle East and the looting and destruction of UNESCO World Heritage Sites, museums and less documented antiquities as a result of that occupation.

 

The images were stolen from the internet primarily from government sites, printed as negatives on an office photocopier, made transparent with olive oil, salt printed and gold toned. More of the artist statement can be found in the book and on my blog.
